<Lazy Susan> is a turntable seen quite often in Chinese restaurants. Around the Lazy Susan are Ning Lau’s handmade dolls, each of them uniquely hand-molded into their expressions. When you look at Ning’s dolls, you’ll begin to find one that resonates with you. Maybe one of them reminds you of your friend, or perhaps just like dining with a Lazy Susan, you’ll find a bit of yourself in each of them. Life changes and turns around just like a turntable, you could say it’s like a routine, but it could also be that it’s the constant changes that makes life exciting, even challenging – and that’s what Ning believes in. Rather than seeing <Lazy Susan> as a personal exhibition, it’s more like a meet-and-greet for the dolls with Ning’s friends from all walks of life. After half a year of juggling her busy work life and achieving her dreams, Ning hopes to affect people with her positivity through her dolls and her stories behind them, and to also cultivate Hong Kong’s Doll Art culture.
